Day 14 – Massage, Beach Spying & Assorted Craftiness
Craftiness: I bought literally a shopping cart full of Christmas ornament balls at Wal-Mart in February for super clearance with the idea to make some Pinterest-inspired Christmas wreaths. So I broke out the glue gun and my laptop (for more instructions). The trick according to the seventy million pinterest experts is to hot glue the hanger part (with the loop) before stringing the bulbs on a wire coat hanger bent into a circle. So I hot glued about 80 ornaments, swore, burnt my knee (shorts and hot glue don’t go well together). and taaadaaaa — we have a wreath. Yeehaw Kim & Pinterest.
Beach time: Katie went to the beach with a friend, but being the mom of a 13-year-old going on 22, I thought it would be good if I came early to pick her up and just hung out nearby but not quite looming. I was enjoying a book, sneaking a peak occasionally at Katie and friends. She was fine – but as I’m surrepticiously “reading” when I realized the woman directly behind Katie’s island of teen-agerness is a teacher friend of mine. So I joined Joanna on the beach now directly behind Katie and friend and just told Katie that I had spies everywhere (let’s hope). We stayed a little longer than planned so I could have some grown-up chat time, and raced home to cook dinner (chicken nachos – yum).
While I’m doing my blogging thing, Jeff is working on Jake’s financial aid forms – in preparation for our trip to Tri-County Tech Wednesday. I’m looking forward to the drive to catch up on some reading….lots to choose from on our coffee table.
