71 Days

What I did during my summer vacation…

Day 59 – Beaching, boating and painting!

I spent today and yesterday painting my bedroom. Jeff has no one to blame but himself, because he planted the painting seed. We were looking for a getaway weekend and Jeff found a place in Savannah and read the fantastic description of the plush rooms to me. There was a groupon to this great place, but I started thinking that I could make my room a little more retreat-ish with a coat of paint. $350 a night for the hotel vs. $100 in paint and lots of elbow grease. So I’ve painted for 2 plus days while Katie cooked dinner and helped around the house.

In the middle of my painting fest, I did get to go out to South Beach with my parents, sister and her family. Painting waited for me to have some fun and I was s glad that I did as we saw dolphins, a family of otters and the weather was fantastic. Not a total sweat-fest! Fabulosa!

Karen’s boys and Karen got castnet throwing lessons from my dad and we brought home lots of shells – a good day for everyone. Now I’m off to bed in my plush retreat with its newly painted walls. I wonder what poor people are doing tonight?
