Day 34: Santee Camping
This weekend, we enjoyed our second camping trip since we bought our camper. We made last minute plans and got great spots with our cousin friends on Lake Marion. I forgoed the last day of vacation Bible school to join the family instead of joining them later and was glad to enjoy a car ride with the kids, something that doesn’t happen that often anymore.
Setting up is getting a little easier, and we even overcame a plumbing issue with no one passing out or enduring a shower of sorrow (check out the Robin Williams family movie RV to get this reference).
So Santee State Park was actually pleasantly sparsely populated and is enormous. Jeff and I got to do some great bike rides with lots of deer around to photograph. Jake, Jeff and Katie got to try jetskiing on Tim’s jetski which was a hit. I chickened out on that, but enjoyed watching them.
So, camping is a good thing. No TV, time with our kids and lots of GREAT food. We enjoyed some fresh corn from Eutawville (or its suburbs), shrimp (courtesy of McClellanville shrimpers), ribs (Food Lion maybe?) and chicken wings grilled to perfection. Yum.
